Beckham: Man Utd not weaker without Ronaldo

December 31st, 2009 tribalfootball.com No comments

AC Milan's on-loan LA Galaxy star David Beckham says Manchester United haven't skipped a beat since selling Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

Beckham scoffed at claims his old team will be there for the taking after selling superstar Portuguese winger Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world-record £80million.

Becks said: "When you lose someone like Cristiano, you lose a lot - not only on the pitch but in the dressing room as well.

"But I wouldn't say they are weaker because they've still got great players in their squad.

"It's the same when any great player leaves a club like Manchester United, AC Milan or Real Madrid - the club moves on."

December 31st, 2009 tribalfootball.com No comments

AC Milan's on-loan LA Galaxy star David Beckham admits he'd love to score against Manchester United in the Champions League.

Beckham supported United as a kid and played 394 games for them - scoring 85 goals - before leaving Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2003.

This will be the first time he has played against Alex Ferguson's troops and he said: "If I score I will not celebrate.

"I would love to score but I definitely wouldn't celebrate.

"I know that sometimes when it's a big occasion you don't think, so you can never tell what will happen.

"But I am telling you I wouldn't want to celebrate."

Beckham: I have missed everything about AC Milan

December 31st, 2009 tribalfootball.com No comments

David Beckham is delighted to be back with AC Milan.
<!--break-->
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder spent six months at the San Siro last year and has joined up with the Serie A giants once more from LA Galaxy.

Beckham has overcome a niggling foot injury which plagued him in the latter stages of the MLS season and spoke of his joy at being back in Milan.

He said: "I missed being in Milan and being with the club because my experience with the club was so special in six months and it makes you miss the club.

"I missed playing, being around the team, the players, the fans and everybody at the club. It was good last time and hopefully this time will be just as good."

Fabio Capello maintains the 34-year-old will travel to South Africa if "he plays well and is fit," and Beckham knows what he has to do to remain in the frame.

"It makes me happy but I know I need to work hard," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's not guaranteed. If I play in games and I do well then obviously I've got a chance because I've been part of the squad for most of the games. It's great the manager says that, I'm really pleased he says that, but I know I've got to work hard to be part of the squad.

"It's not that easy but like I said before I'm really happy to be back here, happy to be training with Milan again and everything to do with the club. It's going to be hard work - I'm ready for that."
