ALLEGRI EXPECTS “A MASSIVE GAME”

MILANELLO - Here is what Massimiliano Allegri had to say in his press conference at Milanello: “We prepared for this game as we did for other matches, knowing that it will be a massive game, a clash between title contenders. Only 12 matches are left to play, but there are still a lot of points up for grabs. I think it’s no coincidence that Napoli are second. They have a lot of quality both from a technical and a tactical point of view, it’s a very enthusiastic team and I think they’ll come here tomorrow to play an open game. At the moment this match seems to be the most important, but in my opinion also our match in Verona last week was fundamental, for another reason, but definitely tomorrow’s game is very important. A lot is at stakes for us and also for Napoli and to be honest I think tomorrow’s match can be decisive in the race for the league title. We shouldn’t let our three-point advantage over Napoli affect us, we simply have to try to win the game. There are still a lot of matches left to play. 36 points are still available so we can’t just build the remaining part of the season on this advantage”.On Mazzarri: “We have different characters. I believe that all the Serie A referees are up to the task, so for me there’s no problem here and I don’t really care about who’s been appointed for the game. Seeing that he does as he complained after Napoli’s match last week, I said that he should choose the referee. It was just a joke. I don’t know him personally, by the way. It’s not like Mazzarri is unsympathetic to me, on the contrary, I like him. I respect him a lot, because he’s always done great things wherever he’s worked. I think that as a coach he has to be judged by his result and his results speak volumes”.On Napoli: “They didn’t deserve to be eliminated from the Europa League as they did very well in Spain and were worthy of progressing. They’ve been doing great things in Serie A and I’m sure they’ll come to the San Siro for the three points and with the intention of catching up with us on the top of the standings. We’ll have a lot to lose in tomorrow’s match. I think Napoli will play as they’ve been lately. Mazzarri’s team has improved a lot, has a lot of self-esteem and is also technically gifted, so I think they’ll come here to play a great game. I’m sure that tomorrow’s match will be a great encounter. Hopefully, it will also be satisfactory for us from every point of view”.On Pato, Jankulovski and Boateng: “Pato has improved, now he’s much more serene. His numbers speak for themselves: he’s scored a brace every two games. Cassano has done very well in our last couple of matches. Boateng could even play on the wings of a three-man midfield tomorrow. He’ll have a great game against Napoli and he’ll be key player of the match. At the moment, Jankulovski may have a better chance to start than the others playing in his position”.On Cavani: “I think Cavani is a fundamental player for Napoli. He has improved a lot. He can score even without Lavezzi’s help, so tomorrow we’ll need to keep an eye on him”.On Juventus: “Now we’re focused on Napoli and not on the match against Juventus. By the way, I think that The Bianconeri are out of the running for the title after their defeat yesterday, but they’re aiming at a top four finish and they have all the chances to achieve this goal”.
