MILANO – The team continues their impressive form at the Saint’Elia stadium in the Sardinian capital this evening with a 2-0 win at a difficult stadium. Allegri’s team are now number one in the Italian top flight.Milan started with their collective foot on the gas and bafter only 4’ took the lead. Ibrahimovic sent a pass forward to Robinho who did well to get the better of his man on the right hand side of the penalty area and sent the ball back across the box. Nocerino was ready and waiting to put the ball into the back of the net, but received a helping hand from Pisano whose name will remain on the score sheet. The goal seemed to shake up the hosts a bit and on 14’ Ekdal got a good shot on target from outside the area but Abbiati was more than up to the task and pushed it out for a corner. Cagliari kept pushing forward without running too many risks at the back and the sides went in at half time with the score at 1-0. The second half saw the home team continue to push forward but Milan’s back line held more than firm. As the minutes ticked by, Milan started to get more of a grip on the game and created some chances, notably through Robinho. Ibrahimovic once again managed to pick out the Brazilian who covered a lot of ground for the Rossoneri this evening, but his shot from a tight angle went over the bar. Just a few minutes later the second goal came. Ibrahimovic, always dangerous, got the ball in the area ahead of Canini and managed to beat Agazzi in the Cagliari goal. One hour played and the home team were 2-0 down with a mountain to climb. 10 minutes later Thiago Silva showed his class with a well times tackle on Larrivey. On 80 minutes played, Milan had a chance to make it 3-0, but Pato who had come on for Robinho was unable to get the ball past the keeper after Milan pushed forward on a counter attack. Milan’s number 7 was dangerous again on 88’ but his shot was blocked by the defense. Nainngolan, who was probably the home team’s most dangerous player, had a chance near the death, but his shot failed to trouble Abbiati.
4 minutes of injury time came to a close and sent Milan back to the summit of Serie A with a 2-0 won.
