A HIGH PRICE

Milan draw in Sicily against a well organised Catania side and put another point on the table in Serie A’s round 30.
MILAN – Here’s what players and management had to say after Catania-Milan:
CLUB CEO ADRIANO GALLIANI
"I don’t have much to say. I never talk about referees. It’s the second time that the ball has crossed the line, when it crosses the line, it’s a goal but not for us. It’s the second time that it’s happened. First against Juventus and today against Catania. It’s frankly unacceptable. In other games they’ve been good at seeing these things but we’ve been unfortunate. I hope that our luck changes and that this episode won’t alter the championship race.”
MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI
"Disappointing because we leave two points here against a good Catania side. We had a 10 minute black out in the second half and we've paid a high price. We should have done things differently at the start of the second half. The players did well in parts and I liked the intensity and the desire to get the result. Once you're ahead, they can always equalise and then we weren't able to turn the game around. tuesday will be a really tough match but we'll play our game. We'll evaluate Abbiati tomorrow" ALBERTO AQUILANI
"We knew it was a tough place to come to. We took the lead and we did well. We had a lot of chances, then the equaliser came, but a draw here is not to be sneezed at. In my mind anyway, you can never go back, lets hope next time it doesn’t happen because it’s already the second time that the referees have penalised us. After they scored they got more enthusiastic but there are still a lot of games left and a point here is not a disaster. Against Barcelona we’ll go there and play our game. The first leg showed that there’s not much difference between us.”
MAXI LOPEZ
"Basically when I got on the pitch, the spaces had been closed up. I tried to make some space. Maybe a single point isn’t the best but we have top keep on pushing with the right mentality. They didn’t give us the goal, it’s the second time it’s happened and that means four points. We now have to be cold and look ahead to Barcelona. When the games over and you see that they m,ade another mistake, it’s tough to stay calm. It’s always good to come back to Catania and I was happy with how I was welcomed. Now I’m thinking of Barcelona and I’ll have to work to earn a few minutes on the pitch.
MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI (Press conference)
"It was a beautiful game. We knew we’d find some difficulties here, we had something of a black out and conceded from the corner. It’s a shame that we weren’t able to finish off some of the chances we had and that we leave 2 points on the road like this. Now we have two days to regroup before Tuesday and we’ll do it in the best way possible. I saw Milan play well. This morning, the referees were pulled back into the game but not by us. If that’s the way it’s done, then we’ll do it as well.Catania played well and unfortunately we’re coming from playing a game every three days and it wasn’t easy. Antonini once again saved us from that Lanzafame chance 5 seconds from the end. Tuesday will be another game. Motivation comes by itself and we’ll have to play the best game possible.”

A PRECIOUS POINT

MILANO – A important and all things considered a fair point ios what Milan return north with. The Rossoneri took the lead but a Catania side that’s enjoying a splendid season managed to equalise.
Catania started the game well at the Massimino stadium with Bergessio inside the area but his shot ended high. Milan were on their toes but it was again the hosts pushing forward even though the best chances of the first 20 minutes fell to the Rossoneri. Emanuelson entered into the area with pace but his shot only found keeper Carrizo. The it was Ibrahimovic to take on the Catania keeper on 17’ and Carrizo was once again up to the task. A great game played at a high pace by both teams and the visitors started to get control of the game as the half wore on. Their work paid off on 34’. Ibrahimovic held up the ball well and fed Robinho who from inside the area made no mistake. 3 minutes later it was Catania through Gomez whose shot from the edge of the area made the cross bar shake.
The second half started as the first did with Catania playing 100 miles an hour. A fter just a couple of minutes Gomez had found the back of the net but the goal was disallowed for offside. It was Gomez again making himself dangerous and setting up a chance for Barrientos which seemed impossible to miss only for Antonini, not for the first time this week, to block with perfect timing and technique. Catania continued to push though and the pressure paid dividends through Spolli who took full advantage of some disorganised defending from a corner in the Rossoneri area to head in from close range. Milan tried to fight back and shortly after Ambrosini fed Ibrahimovic who looked to be one-on-one with the keeper only for the referee to call an offside that only he could see. More danger from the visitors came from Robinho who found space between the two centre halfs, rounded the keeper but his shot was cleared off the line. Some doubt lingers as to whether the ball crossed the line or not. Two minutes later and it’s Almiron who answers for Catania but his shot goes just over.Milan close to scoring again on 30’ when a header from Mexes brought out a great save from Carrizo. The keeper was close to miraculous a minute from the end of the game knocking a chip from Ibrahimovic over the bar. Milan threw everything at their hosts in the closing minutes with El Shaarawy and Maxi Lopez on for Robinho and Aquilani but the Rossoneri just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.
A mile-a-minute game at the Massimino stadium ended 1-1.Now for Barcelona.
