MILAN – After speaking to the Milan Channel, Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to the Swedish press and had this to say:
“It was a tough game but we won and it went well. It’s a big season for me and I hope to continue. Today’s game wasn’t tough compared to what we have waiting for us on Wednesday. It’s true that my house in Malmoe is for sale but my country is always in my heart.”
THREE POINTS AND AN IBRA DOUBLE
MILAN – A rollercoaster of emotion at the San Siro stadium this evening between Milan and Roma. At the end of the affair, it Milan who take the three points with a 2-1 win coming back from Osvaldo’s goal thanks to a double from Ibrahimovic who’s now on 22 goals. The first danger in the game comes thanks to Emanuelson who finds space on the right and hits a left footed shot towards Stekelenburg’s goal. On 10’, Thiago Silva leaves the field for Zambrotta with Bonera moving to the centre of defence. Just a few minutes later and it’s another chance for Milan. Ibrahimovic hit a powerful free kick which Stekelenburg puts out for a corner. On 15’, it was El Shaarawy with a chance after Zambrotta headed the ball down in the box, his shot was just wide. 2 minutes later, Emanuelson had a shot from outside the area which ended over the bar. On 24’ Roma make themselves dangerous but Gago’s shot is deflected by Mexes. Muntari then continues the Milan attack with a shot from distance, powerful but not precise. Another shot from distance, this time from Ibrahimovic but it’s wide. Another chance on 33’, Muntari crosses but Ibra’s header is too central. Borini has a shot on 33’ and then a minute later, El Shaarawy has a right footed shot from the corner of the area which hits the post. Nocerino was there for the rebound, but couldn’t put it away. Despite the pressure, it’s Roma who go in ahead at the break, Osvaldo deflects a shot from De Rossi and Milan have it all to do in the second half. The second half opens with two good chances, one for each side. Totti should have done better when one-on-one with Abbiati but chose to go for the chip which finished over the bar. Then El Shaarawy hits a shot too central from the edge of the area. Roma looked dangerous through Marquinho shortly after whose left footed shot brought a save from Abbiati. On 8’, It’s Milan who equalise. Ambrosini’s shot inside the area is blocked by De Rossi and Ibra converts the resulting penalty. 2 minutes later and Emanuelson makes space for Kevin Prince Boateng who makes an immediate impact. Roma then made a double substitution with Bojan and Pjanic coming on for Borini and Totti. Milan on the breakaway on 19’ when El Shaarawy looks for Boateng in the box only for Kjaer to put the ball out for a corner. Stekelenburg had to be at his best a minute later when Ibrahimovic fired a powerful shot goal bound. Then it was Muntari who hit the crossbar with a strong shot. It was 38’ when Milan finally took the lead. Boateng knocked the ball forward to Ibra who hit it over Kjaer and showed all his strength to hold off the defender and head the ball into the back of the net, 2-1 for Milan. The team didn’t run any risks in the final minutes and the game eneded with another three points for the reigning league champions.
