MONTELLA: "We’ll need 101% against Milan"

March 30th, 2012 No comments
MILAN – Here’s what Catania coach Vincenzo Montella had to say on the eve of Catania-Milan at the Massimino stadium:  “Milan are definitely not tired, they’re used to playing at these levels and with this frequency and we won’t have any advantage in that sense. Besides seeing our recent results, they won’t underestimate us. They’re in good form, they had a few chances against Barcelona and they were in the game all the way despite the difficulty of playing against such a good team. It’s an important game for the title although not decisive. You need two things to beat Milan. We’ll have to give 101% and they have to have a bit of an off day. I hope that Catania can express themselves well on the field, not just the talent but also the determination. The fan’s joy at the moment pushes us on and we’re eager to measure ourselves against such a great team. Lopez? He had a great chance, he earned it as well. I imagine it’s a special feeling that welcomed him to Italian football.”

MILAN – Primavera striker Adria Carmona anaylyses tomorrow’s match against Atalanta: “Saturday will be a delicate match because we want to get to the final stages without going through the play offs. GIOVANISSIMI REGIONALI B: SIMONE BALDO SPEAKS

March 29th, 2012 No comments
How do you go about your job? The start of the season was complicated by injuries but we’re slowly getting players back and so we’re developing. Work is based on improving technique with help from the MilanLab. Something to be underlined is the weekly meeting we have with the coached from the other age groups which allows us to share programs and objectives. What are the objectives? To get the best out of the kids and to improve them under all points of view. With players coming back into the group now, we hope to end the year with a trophy to show for the kids’ commitment. You spoke earlier about the particularity of the age group. What’s the good and the bad about dealing with the kids? The positive thing is the willingness and the enthusiasm. They absorb everything like a sponge. Of course with the onset of adolescence, a few problems can arise at home or at school and we have to try and manage them correctly. The club helps in this as they have professionals available. Do they know what it means to wear the Milan shirt? They have the right mentality. They show passion and desire as well as discipline and that’s a very good thing.

HEAD TO HEAD

March 29th, 2012 No comments
MILAN - Here's what players and management had to say after Milan-Barcelona at the San Siro:MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI Well, the games over now and the players really put in a great performance. We created a few important situations on the pitch and we conceded very little. We suffered a little bit in the last 20 minutes of the first half, but I think it’s an important result against a really great team and now qualification for the semi final is still wide open. The players were very good. I think the second half was better than the last 20/25 minutes of the first half when they started to get the upper hand and we couldn’t seem to get going, but we were good and we knew how to suffer and not concede too much, we had some clear chances ourselves as well, Robinho, Ibrahimovic, Nocerino, Emanuelson  and against Barcelona as well. I think they’ve almost always managed to score in their games so the face that they didn’t here is a good sign.I’ve always said that I’m lucky enough to train a great group of professionals and even the players who aren’t on the pitch, even the ones who watch from the stands they’re always ready when they’re called upon and obviously that’s all thanks to them.Of course it’s obvious that playing as they do, the longer you can keep them from scoring the better it is, the more time they go without scoring, the more pressure you can put them under. The players did well in that. This game should give us a lot of satisfaction and also awareness ahead of Saturday which is a big game as we only have 9 matches left in the season. We have a four point lead and it’ll be an almost decisive match in the league. It’ll be a tough away game as they’re playing very well. Tomorrow we’ll rest, and the day after as well then we play on Saturday. Abate has been playing with the Primavera youth side so I think he’ll be available for selection. ANTONIO NOCERINO "We played a good game. We knew that they play good football, really good football and that they’re a fantastic team. We played our game making the most of their mistakes and in the first half we could have taken the lead. We did well in front of the best team in the world. I think that they respect us just as we respect them. It was a toughly fought game and we’ll play for the qualification against them in Barcelona. They respect is because we’re a great team with real champions we’ll try and get a goal and close down every single space to get a result there to make sure we reach our objective.”LUCA ANTONINI "They people from UEFA gave me the man of the match prize and in a game like this one, that just fills me with satisfaction. I’m happy most of all for the way that we played, head to head with Barcelona, the best team in the world and we showed that we can get through to the next round. Ambrosini was a real gladiator here tonight, he fought for every ball both in defense and attack. I saved a goal on Sanchez as I had the timing and the reflexes to slide in on time and take the ball away from him. A bit of skill and a bit of luck. We took them on and stayed with them head to head and that gives us the strength to go to the Nou Camp and play for the qualification for the semi finals. We’re quite satisfied with how things went. The pitch was bad, it didn’t allow us to play as we know how to, you could see it with that chance that Emanuelson had, but we were even stronger than the pitch!”MASSIMO AMBROSINI"These are great games to play. This draw should give us trust and courage. We’ll go there with the score at 0-0 and we’ll play. We’re a bit tired but that’s fine. There was the right spirit tonight, before, during and after the match. We’ll go to Barcelona with trust in ourselves. The squad deserve praise as do the fans. We’ll have the same spirit there as well. We have to be honest, we ‘re facing a team that has defined their era of football but we’ll go and we’ll play it. For Saturday, let’s hope we’ll have a a few players back.”CLARENCE SEEDORF"We’re satisfied even if we have be more clinical. We had three chances and that could make the difference. It’s a good result that leaves qualification open. We’ll need courage, quality and tactical attention, you can’t pressw for 90 minutes but Milan did well and they respect us. The pitch at the San Siro is the way it is. We have Catania next and then we’ll think about the enxt game. Now we need to rest.” ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC "It’s a good result and I’m happy because we didn’t concede but I’m less happy with the fact that we didn’t score with the chances that we had. We’ll be ready for the Nou Camp. Now we’ll think about Catania and then we’ll come back to thinking about Barcelona. The important thing is to make the most of the chances that come.” STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY "Very emotional and I’m very happy with my debut at the San Siro but most of all for the result and the performance. I had a couple of chances and I tried. I came on the pitch to give my team mates a hand, they moved the ball around very well we really had to do a lot of leg work. We’ll move to the return leg now. At the Nou Camp we’ll need to play a perfect game. They’ll try to score at any cost in front of their fans, we’ll have to play our game and put them in difficulty.”
